Introductie:
In de afgelopen maand hebben wij tientallen Field-maps geopend, die specifiek ingaan op de bruinkoolwinning in Duitsland. Nu is er natuurlijk veel over te vinden, maar ook te lezen en te zien. Bruinkoolwinning lijkt in mineralogisch opzicht misschien niet zo interessant, maar in geologisch opzicht des te meer. Daarom wil ik iedereen er op wijzen dat er binnenkort een grote aanvulling komt op actieve, maar ook verlaten (bruinkool)dagbouw en de cultivering daarvan. Bijna elke locatie (Field-map) heeft een uniek verhaal, wat op de Field-map omschreven staat. Om dit te centraliseren, vul ik elke keer een lijstje aan met de Field-maps die er mee te maken hebben. Houd dit topic dan ook goed in de gaten! En weet je meer over dit onderwerp of een locatie? Laat het aub weten, alle informatie is altijd welkom!
Toelichting term "bruinkool":
Bruinkool of ligniet is een fossiele brandstof die bestaat uit plantenresten die in diepe aardlagen tot koolstof en andere scheikundige verbindingen worden omgezet. Bruinkool en vooral de geologisch minst oude bruinkoolsoort spriet wordt soms ook ligniet genoemd. Ligniet is echter een geologische term en duidt op geologisch afzettingsmateriaal dat ook in niet-exploiteerbare hoeveelheden (en vervuild door andere materialen) voorkomt. Bruinkool echter is een spreektaalterm die altijd een delfstof aanduidt: bruinkool is een vorm van ligniet die zuiver genoeg is om exploitatie economisch te verantwoorden.
